10K IN SUMMARY

SURVIVALIST: 10k is a long-time survivor of the zombie apocalypse. as a kid, his father was as survivalist who raised him in a cabin in the woods, teaching him all the skills to hunt, shoot, fish, and track, so when the outbreak eventually occurred, 10k was more prepared than most on how to get through it. after some time, his father was bit and turned, forcing 10k to make what would be his first kill. this is when he first took on the name of "ten thousand", signifying the number of zombies he aimed to kill (which he keeps a consistent count of and will often recite it) — his mission to push him forward and survive.

OPERATION BITE MARK: after traveling alone for some time, he met "operation bite mark", a group of people who were on a mission to travel to california, to transfer murphy, the lone survivor of a zombie bite, to the cdc in hopes of conjuring a cure. though the trials were complex along the way and constantly steered to alternate missions, 10k stuck with this core group who would in time become his family. doc, an optimistic drug-using hippie, has since become his frequent companion and father figure. roberta warren, an ex-lieutenant of the national guard and current leader of the group, has become a bit of a mother figure. addy carver, a one-eyed redhead with a spiked bat for a weapon, has become something of a sister. and then there's murphy — where an escalating hatred has set them off into frequent antagonistic encounters.

DEAD OR ALIVE?: 10k's status of being dead or alive is incredibly questionable. at one point, he is bit by murphy and made into a "blend", which is the halfway point between human and zombie, losing their sense of fear and being placed under murphy's control. while he'd been injected with a few vaccines to try and counter this, the effects led him to nearly dying, and the only way to cure him of this was to quite literally kill him — and then get bit again by murphy and injected with a vaccine all at the same time. though he's now cured of murphy's control, having died has since affected just how "alive" he is, since he has a relatively low pulse that's often difficult to detect.

SKILLS & APPEARANCE: within the group, 10k is known for being the expert marksman, skilled and talented with not only guns, but slingshots and any long-range shooting. he also has incredibly adept accuracy and can handle himself perfectly well with a knife. often his clothes tend to stick to natural colors, such as browns and greens, or anything that does well with camouflage. his attire frequently consists of vests or anything with enough pockets to store his weapons and accessories, along with a bandana or set of goggles on his head. he has two bite marks, one at the back of his neck and one on the inside of his wrist, both done by murphy.

PERSONALITY: he may appear plenty confident and stern in a fight, but 10k can come across a little awkward when engaging in conversation, due to his time so often secluded away from society as a kid. he's also always very reserved in terms of his own emotions and won't try to talk out his feelings, instead preferring himself to appear closed off and emotionless. though he's gotten better at interactions over his years traveling with others, he can still sometimes come off more quiet until he's grown comfortable, and will especially talk his mouth off if talking about the things he's skilled in, such as weapons or zombie hunting. still, he can be fairly playful, teasing back at people who throw it at him, and shows a genuine kindness to people who aren't jerks. he's also a firm believer in aliens and cryptids, and will constantly reference an uncle's experience with any number of them.

10k has a canon preference for women, usually developing fast instant crushes on those around his own age. while he's probably not willing to act, he's definitely shown to be physically attractive to older women as well. as far as men are concerned, he's not shown to ever be attracted to any, but for rp purposes, something could potentially occur with further development, and only with those around his same age (older men tend to appear more as father figures for him).

ayalla: 10k always seemed to be more confident and himself in ayalla's presence despite their limited time together. after their first meeting she provides him with a necklace for luck, which he holds onto for episodes long after they separate, up until he's under murphy's control and stripped of everything he has, as to get rid of his old identity. when they meet the second time, he'd been conflicted with the loss of his hand, which he could never open up to even red about, and yet ayalla guides him through it in a way that speaks to him, aiding him to overcome the final major obstacle of his character arc (when she jokes for him to strip naked, he was absolutely going to do it too).

cassandra: these two had many missed opportunities, but i'm fully in support that this was 10k's first love and something he never stopped carrying with him. for the few times that cassandra almost regained herself, it was in 10k's presence, who was the only one who could see through to her. if she'd been cured, these two would have stayed together, no doubt.

sarge: these two were definitely more of trusted allies with a friends-with-benefits physical relationship, but since the actors are dating in real life, the chemistry is a lot more vibrant. though it was more trust than love from what we saw, potentially more insight into sarge's character would have steered this more towards romance.

red: despite being the official canon shipping, this relationship tends to be the weakest, since the chemistry never felt very natural. their meeting amounted to some teasing bickering, but it never provided enough to feel quite as solid as it should. though they were supportive to one another for two years after the loss of 5k, red's disappearance until altura seemed to shake a lot of what they had, since losing sarge and his hand caused 10k to shield himself away from her, unable to confide in her. i'm not opposed to them together, but it needs a lot of work to feel more definitive.

addy: these two are absolutely the definition of found-brother-and-sister, but their trust in each other knows no bounds, so i wouldn't entirely say no to it.
